Where’s the config?
In a project you will notice there’s an option hidden away to configure DWG or DGN export settings.
Strangely this is not configured in the Revit.ini file stored under C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\<Version>
After a few head scratching moments it dawned on me that it might be Revit template specific… So after a little testing…
…it was concluded that the file paths are embedded in the Revit templates. Therefore if you want everyone in your team to use the same export settings you need to map the text files ‘inside’ your Project (or template file if you are doing it for the entire business).
Go to the export settings dialogue box mentioned above…
Set the Layer mapping text file appropriatelty. In the screen shot below, we have a customised layer mapping file which ‘has’ to be placed on your server in a shared network drive so that each PC can read it.
The same principle applies for configuring any other settings within this interface. Ensure they are all on shared network resources
Finally, test your ouputs and save your Revit Company Template.rte with the updated settings. You will need to repeat this for all versions of Revit your company is running i.e. Revit 2017, 2018, 2019 etc…
